How to apply

Welcome to the Faculty Recruitment Portal of IIT Madras. Here are the steps in the application process.

  1. Get a login: Create a login for this site to get started with the application process. Choose the option "Create new account" in the user login menu, enter a login name of your choice and a valid email address. An email will be sent from "facapp@wmail.iitm.ac.in" for verification. Depending on the network, this mail may take few minutes to reach your inbox - please be patient. Do check the junk mail folder, in case you don’t get the mail.
  2. Please click on the link provided in the mail to validate your account and to login to set your password. Use this password along with the login name you provided to login to this site
  3. You can change your password or request to reset the password on this portal. In case of difficulties, feel free to contact facapp@wmail.iitm.ac.in for any support regarding this website.
  4. Login to the site and follow the links in the numbered navigation menu on the left to fill the forms and upload the required files.
  5. Email alerts will be sent to your email address every time you upload a document in this portal. Please make sure that mails with the from address "facapp@wmail.iitm.ac.in" are not stopped by your spam / junk mail filter.

Application Process You will need to go through all the following steps to complete your application. You can edit your application until the closing date of the advertisement.

    I - Forms to be filled on-line

  1. Application Details: Complete filling your personal information.
  2. Experience Details: Enter summary of experience in the online-form. Detailed information to be submitted with academic profile.
  3. Productivity Details: Enter summary of publications, patents etc. Detailed information to be uploaded in the academic profile document.
  4. Qualification Details: Enter details of degrees other than Ph.D. Use the fillable form repeatedly to enter details of multiple degrees
  5. Referee Details: Enter details of up to 3 referees. Candidates are required to contact referees directly to send the reference letters to the Head of Concerned Departments at I.I.T. Madras, Chennai 600036 either by post or email; email addresses are as listed at the IIT Madras website.

  6. II - Documents to be Upload: Uploaded files cannot be deleted. Any upload can be repeated to override the previously uploaded file and the latest upload will be used to process the application.

  7. Photo: Passport size photograph to be uploaded in JPG format.
  8. Academic Profile: Please refer to instructions in the advertisement document for preparing the academic profile document. To be uploaded as a PDF file.
  9. List of Publications: List of publications as in the academic profile to uploaded as a separate PDF file.
  10. Best Papers: Upload PDF copies of your 3 best papers. Use the paper upload form successively to upload the papers.
  11. Review Application: Review application to ensure all details sought have been entered / uploaded. The upload section on this page will show a history of all uploads and only the latest uploads in each category will be considered for application processing.
  12. Print My Application: Prints as copy of the data sheet (only) which can be signed and sent to Dean Administration by hardcopy by post (or scan copy by email) as required for the application process.

  13. III - Pay application fee using the payment gateway. Use the link on the top right of the “View Application” page.In case of difficulties with payments – please contact deanadmn@iitm.ac.in

The application details and uploaded files can be modified up to the closing date (Nov 24, 2017). There is no separate “submit application” step. Completing steps I, II & III as detailed above ensures completion of the application process.

Updates and announcements on shortlists etc. will be posted on the front page of the portal. Please check periodically.
